Coopers Plains is the first crossroad of the Moreton Bay Penal Settlement. The roads were convict built tracks that often followed ancient Aboriginal paths. In about 1826 a government hut was constructed in Cowper’s Plains, as it was then spelt. We believe it is somewhere slightly south west of the current-day intersection of Beaudesert and Granard Roads, Archerfield.
