Happy King’s Birthday

Many of our public holidays go uncelebrated, for no good reason.

This first year of King Charles’s reign is an opportunity for us to enjoy the pomp and pageantry of the Royal Family and acknowledge the important role the British have played in creating our nation. It’s a lovely time of year in Brisbane, with the sun shining and a cool spring breeze wafting across the back lawn. Friends and acquaintances, both loyalists and republicans joined in the fun.

I created a “Republican Quiz” to add some body to the occasion which everyone enjoyed. In the middle of it, a big goanna sauntered across the back fence! Going through the answers was quite educational. Surprisingly, a republican won it! So he was dubbed King Albert!

Here is a copy of the Quiz, which I encourage you to use next year at your own BBQ event!

“YES(pun intended)”, there IS a good reason, many Australians don’t care, even don’t know what the occasion is about(eg. a Mongol…lian migrant).
Indeed the quiz added a nice body to the occasion! The body of a sauntering goanna-damn rugby players-and a republican, no less! Educational, also controversial, debatable.
Most accommodating of your to share,(free)your quiz, which took you some time to collate. Let’s hope next year we are “celebrating” a REGENCY day instead of a King’s B day. I’m sure Chuck would be relieved of the burden!! No kidding.

Kudos to the rugby player that first did the “goanna”!

      Why a regency?

Well, I haven’t thought it through entirely so it needs more development, however the tall poppy syndrome in this country may be too much for a monarchical system to bear
